Education of Swami Vivekanand

Bhuvaneshwari Devi was a very simple and affectionate lady. His father believed in western culture. He wanted to educate his son Narendra in English and make him follow the western culture. Narendra was always very sharp And his interest lied in God and spirituality. Hence he joined the Brahma society first. But he didn’t find peace there. In the meanwhile, he had graduated in BA from the Kolkata University And started preparing for the law exam.

At this time he met lots of people to clear his religious and spiritual doubts. But he didn’t find any answers to his doubts anywhere. One day one of his relatives took him to Ramkrishna Paramhansa. Swami Ramakrishna Paramhans asked Narendra as soon as he saw him. Can you sing a hymn? Narendra said. Yes, I can. Then Narendra sang a couple of hymns in his melodious voice.

Swami Paramhans was really pleased with his hymns. From that time Narendra started singing hymns for Swami Paramhans And became his disciple. He had become a staunch follower of the Veda theology. Between 1887 and 1892.. ..Swami Vivekanand lived a life of anonymity.

Tour of India

After performing penance in a life of solitude….he went on a tour of India. Swami Paramhans left for the heavenly abode on 16th August 1886. Swami Vivekanand wanted to make important contribution.. ..in the propaganda of Veda and Yoga in the western culture. He was a famous and impactful guru of the Vedas. His real name was Narendra Nath Dutt. He had represented the Hindu ideology….at the world religious conference held at Chicago in 1893. India’s Vedas managed to reach every country of America and Europe….thanks to Swami Vivekanand.

Ram Krishna mission

He established the Ram Krishna mission and it is doing its work even today. He was Swami Ramkrishna Parmamhans’s well qualified and talented disciple. He is known for starting the speech he made at the US….with the line my dear American brothers and sisters. Swami Vivekanand has mentioned Pawhari Baba….at various places in his speech and writing. Pahari means someone who feeds on air. A well-known fact about Pawhari Baba was that he wouldn’t eat anything. He was really impressed by this weird sage and he also penned Pawhari Baba’s biography. Pahari Baba used to live in a cave.

He would meditate in the cave for days and months on end.No one knows what he uses to eat during that long a period. That’s why people named him Pawhari Baba. Pahari meant someone who feeds on air. Someone who spends his life only by consuming air.The speech made by Swami Vivekananda….at the world religious conference in Chicago.

Swami Vivekananda made a really discussed speech at Chicago….at the world religious conference on 11 December 1893. Whenever people talk about him.. ..this speech of his most certainly discussed. His speech read. Get up. Wake up. And don’t stop till you achieve your goal. I teach love and love only. And my teaching is based on the great facts of the Vedas….which enlighten us about equality and completeness of the soul.

Success has three important aspects. Purity, patience, and determination. But what’s above everything is love. We need an educated which develops the character….develops the mental powers, expands our knowledge….and which makes us able enough to be independent. Explain to yourself and explain it to others. Call out to the soul that’s asleep And see how it comes to life. When a dormant soul comes to life….you’ll achieve power, progress, goodness,Everything.

My ideologies can be expressed in these words only. Humankind should use divinity at every step of the age. We strive to get more in life because of power only. And this makes us commit sins. And invite sorrow. Weakness is the reason for sins and sorrows. Weakness opens the door for ignorance. And ignorance opens the door for sorrow. If you have faith in 33 crore Gods and Goddesses….but not in your own self then you cannot attain salvation. Have faith in yourself. Stay dogged and become strong. This is what we need. The maxim of Swami’s ideologies is inspired….from a mantra of the Kath Upanishad.

Essay on Swami Vivekananda

swami Vivekananda was born on 12th January 1863….was born in Kolkata. His father’s name was Vishwanath Dutt….and mother’s name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi. Born to an aristocratic Bengali family as Narendra Nath Dutta, Swami Vivekananda was one of the well-known Hindu monks and a chief disciple of the 19th-century spiritual master Ramakrishna Paramhamsa. He is known for introducing the philosophies of Vedanta – the purpose of the Vedas – and Yoga – a spiritual discipline. Swami Vivekananda is credited for raising interfaith awareness in which he promoted cooperative, positive, and constructive awareness among people of different religions.

At the time of crisis when young Narendrawas faced with doubts about the existence of God, he heard about Sri Ramakrishna – the yogi. In the year 1881, Narendra visited Sri Ramakrishna and questioned him about the existence of God. Sri Ramakrishna not only cleared all his doubts but also gave him spiritual knowledge and love. With this began the guru-disciple love between them and under Sri Ramakrishna’sguidance, Narendra stepped onto the spiritual path. After the death of Sri Ramakrishna, Narendratook over as the leader of the group of disciples.

Under his leadership, the new monastic brotherhood was formed and in the year 1887, they took vows of sannyasa thereby assuming new names. Narendra then became Swami Vivekananda. Having established the new monastic order, SwamiVivekananda heard an inner calling within him that urged him to achieve higher goals and greater missions in his life. In the year 1890, haven has taken blessings from Sri Sarada Devi, the consort of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda took upon the journey to explore and discover India. During his journey, Swami Vivekananda was appalled to see poverty and illiteracy of the masses all over India.

His travels taught him that the real cause for India’s downfall and slow progress was the backwardness of the masses. To uplift society, he worked to infuse faith in the minds of the masses and provided them two kinds of knowledge through education – secular knowledge to improve their economic condition and spiritual knowledge to infuse faith and confidence in themselves so that they can rise from their given state. It was in the year 1893 when Swami Vivekanandadecided to attend the World Parliament of Religion, which was to be held in Chicago.

He knew that the Parliament would provide him the right platform to present the Master’smessage and also seek financial aid to carry out his plans for uplifting the masses. SwamiVivekananda’s speech at the Parliament gained him the recognition of an orator by divine right and a Messenger of Indian wisdom to the Western World. After the Parliament, Swami Vivekananda spent some years spreading the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna to the eastern parts of the USA and to London.

Upon returning to India, in the year 1897 he founded the unique organization called Ramakrishna Mission in which monks and individuals would come together to improve the condition of the masses and provide social services such as education, rehabilitation, medical aid, etc. In the year 1898, Swami Vivekananda acquired a plot on the western bank of the Ganga at a place called Belur to establish a permanent abode for the monastery and the monastic order. This place came to be known as Belur Math. On 4th July 1902, Swami Vivekananda breathed his last.

All through his efforts at uplifting the condition of the masses, Swami Vivekananda had delivered a number of lectures to inspire the youth and the educated classes of the country to sympathize with the condition of the society and aid him in taking action to better the state of the downtrodden people. In his lectures, he spoke about raising the religious consciousness of the people and creating in them pride about their rich cultural heritage. Inspired by his teachings, many became his disciples, some of them being Sister Nivedita, Josephine McLeod, and Sara Ole Bull who then took over serving the society.

swami Vivekananda Quotes in English

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life; dream of it; think of it; live on that idea

Let the brain, the body, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone” .

There is no other teacher but your own soul.

In a conflict between the heart and the brain, follow your heart

In a day, when you don’t come across any problems- you can be sure that you are traveling in a wrong path. They alone live, who live for others.

When an idea exclusively occupies the mind, it is transformed into an actual physical or mental state.

If you like me I am in your Heart, If you hate me I am in your mind.

Truth can be stated in a thousand different ways, yet each one can be true.

Arise! Awake! and stop not until the goal is reached.

You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself.
